Recreational Burn Permit

Recreational fire pits/rings
- A recreational fire pit/ring does not expire.
- A 36" or less fire pit/ring must be at a minimum 25’ away from any structure.
- A 36" to 60" fire pit/ring must be at a minimum 50' from any structure.
- The fire/pit must be either be commercially manufactured with non-combustible material or be free of any burnable substance.
- The fire/pit must have a screen that covers the fire and is no larger than 3mm X 3mm.
- Recreational permits must call Routt County Communications (Dispatch) prior to each burn session. (970)879-1110.
- If the district is in fire restriction level 2 or higher burning is prohibited (unless in the town limits of Oak Creek).
- The burning of trash and milled lumber products is prohibited.
