The Oak Creek Fire Protection District has a dedicated wildfire division. This division is committed to the reduction of hazard fuels, creation of defensible space, and the suppression of wildland fires.
The wildland division is led by a division chief, and consists of a battalion chief, 2 engine captains, and 14 seasonal wildland firefighters.
The crew works four days a week 10 hours a day. The seasonal firefighters generally work from May 1st through the end of October. The work days (when not on a fire assignment) consist of doing project work for fuel reduction and hazard mitigation.
The division responds to wildland incidents locally, statewide, and nationally. Our crews can be away for up to 30 days at a time during the fire season.
Oak Creek Fire Protection District is fully committed to providing accessible facilities, elements and
channels of communication to all members of the public. As part of this commitment, Oak Creek Fire Protection District
has a policy of providing an accessible website compatible with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and
